Doug Prescott Biography

Doug Prescott is an Americana/blues artist from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His music is “truly American”, with influences such as Little Feat, The Neville Brothers, Asleep at the Wheel and Jimmy Buffet. From love ballads to political rockers, the common thread in Prescott’s song writing is honesty.

According to Jordan Lawrence from the Independent; “By day, Doug Guild is the president and CEO of Prescott Environmental Associates, a Chapel Hill consulting firm that helps clients keep their operations clean and green. By night, Guild goes by the name of Doug Prescott, performing soul/blues tunes that take hard-hitting shots at corporate excess that wouldn’t fly in the workplace. It’s a little like how the rich and excessive Bruce Wayne dons the cape and mask to crush thugs as Batman, only Prescott throws on colourful leisure shirts and jeans.”

Doug Prescott’s brand new CD “The Journey & the Deep Blue Sea” features an all-star band that includes Craig Fuller (Pure Prairie League, Little Feat), Will McFarlane (Bonnie Raitt’s former guitarist), Allyn Love (played with Steve Wariner and Patti Lovelace), Tony Bowman (Edgar Winters), and Martin Parker (played with Vince Gill).  1.       Happy Enough Song

A great start to the album. The first thing you notice in Happy enough song is great music! Great guitar strums which makes you sing-along. Country-themed, this blues song is a must-listen !

2.       Hideaway

Great music once again with beautiful chords. This song has some Mexican-Spanish musical backdrop added to it which makes the melody right.

 3.       Patience

The guitar strums are a special mention once again. Yet another Americana song, this is not as good as the others, but it is noteworthy.

 4.       Silence Speak Volumes

First 25 seconds and you are totally dissolved by the ecstasy of this song. “Lies don’t get you anywhere, sometimes, what you say hurts more” – great lyrics. Great lyrics, great music – this song has it all- makes it a perfect long drive song.

5.       Oh Maggie

With great chords, this is another impressive song. “Oh Maggie” creates the same feel just as Usher does.

 6.       Let’s Get Wide Open

The trumpets and the keys make this another impressive song. The lyrics are a special mention.

7.       It’s About Oil

It’s sunset time. This song makes a perfect song to listen in the evening. Great music and great lyrics. As you listen to this song, the lyrics makes your imagination vivid and lets you create a whole story!

 8.       Beach Wedding

The earlier songs have already set a benchmark which this song does not reach. Nevertheless a good song. But we feel the music is becoming cliché.

 9.       Right Time, Right Place

Great music and lyrics. Nothing more to say.

 10.   Little Elvis & Fat Cat Eddie

And we are back ! A perfect finish to this Americana blues album. Really impressive music, you’ll really love this song.
