Album Analysis :
1. Son of Sardar
Singers : Aman Trika, Himesh Reshammiya
The song opens with Yash Chopra’s classic “Kabhie Kabhie” lines which are spoofed in a good way. The song then moves to a different zone with the vocals of Aman Trika & Himesh. This song is high on energy & in a way, it is very peppy. Though reminiscent of typical Punjabi songs, the background dhol beats & loud arrangements coupled with decent lyrics make this song one of the bright aspects of this album. A good start !
2. Po Po
Singers : Vikas Bhalla, Aman Trikha & Himesh Reshammiya
The most foot-tapping song of the album ! “Po Po” has already been in the news & already a rage thanks to the special appearance of Salman Khan. The chorus & Punjabi beats, though might sound kid-ish are very addictive. Lyrics appear tune– friendly. Overall, the song maintains a good peppy feel right throughout & music channels are going to air this one again & again. All go Po Po !
Singers : Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
An instantly likeable number ! “Bichdann” has Rahat Fateh Ali Khan at his best. This song has a strong classical base adhered to it. Be it the arrangements, singing, tune & instrumentation, the lyrics hit the bull’s eye. Hindustani music lovers would love this song. The sad emotions are conveyed by the lyrics. The interlude is one of the best in recent times. Easily, the album’s best song !
4. Tu Kamaal Di Kudi
Singers : Vineet Singh,Mamta Sharma
“Tu Kamaal Di Kudi” starts with typical Punjabi beats followed by vocals of Vineet Singh. This song follows the usual fast paced, loud, Punjabi bhangra style but nevertheless the tune is extremely catchy. Mamta Sharma joins the song a little late and makes quite an impression. The dhol beats gel well with the tune. A pucca dance number !
5. Rani Tu Mein Raja
Singers : Mika Singh, Bhavya Pandit & Yo Yo Honey Singh
The “Pungi” rockstar is back ! Few seconds into the song & listeners can easily guess how the remaining portions of the song can turn out. The female vocals by Bhavya Pandit really lift the song to another level. The intial tune is strangely similar to “Apne Tu Jaise Jaise” from Housefull. But, nevertheless an engaging affair !
6. Yeh Jo Halki Halki
Singers : Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
“Yeh Jo Halki” is a guest composition by Sajid-Wajid. This song is one of the few slow numbers in the album. This number is a fusion of slow ballad with rock instrumentations. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sings one more song of the same type. The tune is highly predictable yet very much engaging. A good listen !
7. Kabhi Kabhi (Funk) & (House Trance)
Singers : Ajay Devgn
Ajay Devgn starts the song by uttering the spoof of immortal lines from “Kabhie Kabhie”.This song consists of funny, smart one liners in the voice-over fused with electronic beats superbly by Sandeep Chowta.Experimantation to the next level ! The same song gets a House Trance version too. But this techno-ed version doesn’t appeal unlike the previous one.
The remixes of Bichdann, Son of Sardar, Rani Tu Mein Raja complete the album. Regarding the musical aspect in all the above three remixes there is nothing much except for the foot tapping, high tempo, loud beats. Barring Bichdann(which has a different arrangement),none of the remixes are noteworthy. Passable !
“Son of Sardar” is expected to be another addition to the list of Ajay’s recent hits along the lines of Bol Bachchan, Golmaal 3, Singham. Himesh, whose “Dangerous Ishq” opened to mixed reviews has delivered a commercial album which works well. Unlike songs from Ajay-Himesh’s last combination “Bol Bachchan”, this one appeals almost at instance. The album has some high voltage, Punjabi fast paced numbers & around 4-5 songs are capable of working well. Chartbuster Dhadka album !

Album Verdict : Himesh’s Dhamaka !
