Music Director : Harris Jeyaraj

Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK) is an upcoming Tamil movie directed by Rajesh of ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ and ‘Boss (a) Baskaran’ fame. This movie stars Santhanam, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Hansika Motwani in the lead. This is the first time Rajesh has opted for Harris Jeyaraj rather than his usual Yuvan which used to be a hit combo. Let us see how the songs have fared.

Song Rating
Adada Oru ★★★☆☆
Akila Akila ★★★½☆
Azhage Azhage ★★★☆☆
Kadhal Oru ★★★★½
Venam Macha ★★★★☆

1. Adada Oru
Singer : Karthik

The album starts off with a decent song sung quite well by Karthik. The song easily reminds us of previous songs on the same lines. (‘Yaar Indha Penthan’ from ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ in this case). Both the lyrics and the tune are familiar lines. Other than an energetic singing from Karthik, nothing else strikes much.

2. Akila Akila
Singers : Aalaap Raju, Sharmila, Chinmayi

This one is a typical Harris style fast song. Right from the initial jingle portion the song is high on energy and pace. The singers have done a great job and so has the lyricist by adding apt phrases to match the tune. Overall, it is a fine composition.

3. Azhage Azhage
Singers : Mukesh, Sri Madhumitha

This is another song on familiar lines. This duet has been sung well by the lead singers and the arrangement is quite engaging. However this song is surely not the pick of the lot.

4. Kadhal Oru
Singers : Aalaap Raju, Hemachandra, Sunitha Sarathy

This is the best song of the album. Portions of this song featured in the teasers and trailers of this movie and had many people humming it. It is a catchy and a really good composition by Harris. The lead singers have done a great job. This song is a sure winner.

5. Venam Macha
Singers : Naresh Iyer, Velmurugan

This is a kind of song that you don’t usually see in Harris’ albums. This song has already got famous for its peppy singing and lyrics. Velmurugan has another feather in his cap. His run with peppy numbers continues with this one too. The portions where Naresh Iyer is introduced is another good experimentation done successfully by Harris. Another good composition.

Album ★★★★★★★½☆☆

Verdict : Harris has come up with his 2nd good album this year. After ‘Nanban’ whose songs were big hits, this album doesn’t fail to impress. However, it is not a great album either. A couple of songs have been composed well and a few of them are quite repetitive. If you are a Harris fan, go for it and you will surely love it!
