1. O Holy Night:
This is the first song from this Christmas album for the ages and it starts off with some fantastic holiday cheer that’s going to keep the Christmas blues away and it is a wonderful song that made me feel that if Joanna Newsom did a Christmas song this would be how it would sound like. There is such a thrill to listen to the beautiful amalgamation of sounds and how it all comes together for the holiday spirit!
2. What Child Is This:
Starts of as strongly as the title track and I adored the instrumental notes that she added here and there like messages in the bottle. It is really effective and the song which is a Christmas classic has all the charm of an original Christmas tradition
3. Silent Night:
Arsen Petrosyan, considered the heir apparent to the throne of duduk musicians joins Abigail in the “shepherds flute” as the combination of their sounds reverberate and mesmerize on this one.
4. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen:
The magic of collaboration continues strongly with producer Michael Crittenden laying down serene arrangements to match the peaceful, celestial vocals of soprano vocals.
5. O Come O Come Emmanuel:
The combination of the soulful sounds of Arsen’s duduk tracks and the angelic voice of Abigail carries the listener back in time to Bethlehem and this was fantastic to listen to!
6. The First Noel
Michael mixes layers of Irish Harp, Irish Whistle, soprano, alto and tenor recorder consort and lute through Celtic musician James Spalink, who gives this track just the right bit of divinity.
7. O Come All Ye Faithful:
A soothing finisher that unwinds the listener and gives us a Christmas album for the ages. Definitely worth listening to again and again.
