This is a vintage 50’s composition reminiscent of good old days.Monali Thakur pulls off a Latha Mageshkar easily. The song already grabbed lot of eyeballs from the promos & looks like this is all set to become a fan-favorite number. The lyrics depict a girl’s dream & desire written brilliantly by Amitabh Bhattacharya.Whiff of vintage melody !
Singers : Amitabh Bhattacharya
Amitabh Bhattacharya dons the singer’s hat as well here.’Ankahee’ is an instantly likeable, hummable song sung in a precise manner by the lyricist. As light as the tune may sound, this song is sure to leave the listeners in a spate of mixed emotions. The second best track in the album !
Singers : Amitabh Bhattacharya,Mohan Kanan
Amit Trivedi goes soft-rock ! Barring the initial resemblance to tracks from Udaan, this one’s a carefully composed number with fabulous attention being given to details. The chorus portions gel so well with the background & literally, steal the show in an otherwise evenly paced number. There is also an undercurrent of electric guitar in the interlude & end portions. But,fans of Rachel Portman – We Had Today might have something else to say !
Singers : Amitabh Bhattacharya,Swanand Kirkire
Swanand Kirkire, fresh from the success of Barfi joins hands with Amitabh Bhattacharya in this unique number.’Monta Re’ really gives the listeners a nostalgic, philosophical feel despite the song carrying a Bengali cloud around it.Sure to evoke ‘Once upon a time….’ moments !
Singers : Amit Trivedi
Another Udaan’ish track ! When you start hearing a tune such as this, you could very well start imagining Amit Trivedi singing it.The guitar riffs have been brilliantly used in this track. The number gears a level up during the end high-pitched portions.Has relatively modern arrangements & underplays the 50’s setting.
Singers : Amitabh Bhattacharya,Amit Trivedi,Shilpa Rao
The best track in the album! “Manmarzian” is a delight to hear with near perfect vocals by Shilpa Rao.The song does indeed leave a strong impact once its over. Will Bollywood get a song like this in near future with no loud, jarring instruments & ‘trying to be western’ rap portions ? I don’t think so.Atleast not in the near future.Cherish this track – the less said, the more you could enjoy.
Picks of the album : Every song’s a gem !
Album Verdict : Take a trip to the 50’s with Amit Trivedi’s magic ! Style with Subtlety !
