Vijay’s Jilla is directed by R. T. Neason for Super Good Films. The rest of the cast involve Mohan Lal, Kajal Aggarwal, Soori and others. The music is scored by D.Imman.
Singers: S.P.Balasubramaniam, Shankar Mahadevan
The opening song for Vijay is different from his previous films , which is performed in the Jumbo voices of S.P.B and Shankar Mahadevan, creating ripples with the chenda,hard-rock guitars and synth . The melody and lyrical part in the charanam deserves more than an applause since it is packaged with the charm and the attitude needed. The chorus and the sting section create an uproar in the interludes. A good song for a Friendly-Sip
Singers: D. Imman
A country song, that starts off with a whistle and violins entering the interludes is worked out on safe grounds of a heavenly melody structure .The way it is sung by Imman with so much ease and innocence is brilliant. The chorus is exuberant and gives a latino feel to the song.
Singers: K.G. Ranjith, Sunidhi Chauhan
Sunidhi Chauhan belts out a energetic performance with her blazing vocals slithering the fine group of electric guitars, thapatam, blow pipe.Ranjith, on other hand gets his own share of space , which is predominantly ruled by the female lead. The melody is pretty straight to understand and the lines are crafted in a sweet and slick flavour.
Singers: Shreya Ghoshal, Vijay
Everyone knows Vijay is good singer , but this time he tries singing a pure and ecstactic melody in front. The composer has already made him sing in Tamizhan and fulfills the actor’s fan following to have their star performing yet again. Best song in the record with Vijay weaving undoubtedly close to a pro with Shreya. The chorus and the enchanting music collides to give a distinct sound , that can’t be expressed so easily.
Yeppa Maama Treatu
Singers: A.V Pooja, D. Imman, Snigdha Chandra
A club mix song with Vaada-Paiyaa feel is seen explicit and the electro music played along the lyric is intense that the voices are blurred out to some extent , but the lines are written in “Who’s big in what”. Just a rash flow of beats with no intent.
Singers: Anand, Deepak, Santhosh Hariharan, Shenbagaraj
The theme is power packed , but the guitar strokes is close enough to Thuppaki’s theme. The singers match the energy of the music , that is so tight gripping and non-stop with the chendas, techno synth played out.
Picks of the album – Jingunamani , Kandaangi Kandaangi , Pattu Onnu , Jilla Theme
Bottomline – So far the most successful composer this year ,gives yet another album , that’s ravishing in every nook and corner. Say it – Mass ? You get it. Say it – Experimental ? You have that too. Imman extensively concentrates on each album and all the songs are on-par in Quality. This Jilla seem to be undeterred.
