“TOMMY THE CLOWN” INTERVIEW
As seen on the critically acclaimed and award winning documentary “RIZE” and back by popular demand, International Superstar “Tommy the Clown” brings his Battle Night competition back to Los Angeles. Musicperk.com got a chance to interview “Tommy the Clown” AKA Tommy Johnson to talk about the return of his epic event- Battle Nights.
What made you decide to finally bring Battle Nights back?
Well, I have to encourage change and give these kids something to do. It’s been way too long since we took our last break and haven’t had a good place to host the event until now.
How did you select the location for Battle Night?
I met the owner of the Just2Grand Warehouse at the Martin Luther King, Jr. parade and she seemed like she wanted to help out and make a change with these kids. I decided to give it a shot and make it the Battle Nights new home in Los Angeles.
Will this be a regular event?
Yes, it will be held every 4th Friday of the month.
What is the difference between Battle Night and Battle Zone?
Battle night is a smaller venue and done more often to give children something to do.
Outside of the United States, where would you say you have the largest fan base?
Germany, I think.
How many dancers from your crew will be performing?
About 7, probably more.
Do you have a Dj? Do you select the music or does he/she?
Yes there will be a Dj and we will be selecting the tracks for them to play.
The show is open to all ages. Do you notice it to be more dominated by male dancers than female or about equal?
Yes it’s all ages. Male or female. The style being performed will determine which gender usually dominates each performance.
Part of the night will be devoted to auditions. Will dancers know immediately if they become part of your crew?
No, we will decide what we can actually do with them; if it’s being a part of battle night or whatever.
What is the message you hope to convey with Battle Night?
I just want to encourage people to come out and have a good time. I want them to leave all the negative behind and enjoy the performers as they showcase their skills and know that God loves them.
What’s next for Tommy the Clown?
One day at a time. I want everyone to download my new Tommy app on their phones available in all iTunes and android markets.
Any surprise guests that we may recognize from past Tommy the Clown battles?
We will have night full of surprises never know what u might miss
