1. Nainon Mein Sapna
Singers: Amit Kumar, Shreya Ghoshal
Nainon Mein Sapna is the recreation of same song from the original Himmatwala. This song stays faithful to the original giving us
a nostalgic trip back to the 80’s. The vocals by Shreya Goshal is apt & Amit Kumar steps in to replace Kishore Kumar & he does his best. This works best with those colorful visuals which promises to be good.
2. Taki Taki
Singers: Mika Singh, Shreya Ghoshal
Sajid-Wajid have played it extremely safe here. Taki Taki is also the recreation of the same tune from the original. It has got to the point where Mika Singh has become stereotypical with similar genre of songs he has sung over the last year. Shreya Goshal is good as usual & the arrangements are typical folk(80’s folk).
3. Dhoka Dhoka
Singers: Bappi Lahiri, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mamta Sharma
Probably the weakest track of the album. Dhoka Dhoka is the much hyped folk item number supposed to feature artists from five regions of the country. The song completely disappoints as the tune is a rehash of nearly hundreds of similar songs. Sajid-Wajid doesn’t seem to be trying anything new here!
4. Bum Pe Laat
Singers: Shaan, Soham & Shubh Mukhejee
The genuinely funny track from the album! This song is very clear in its ambitions & is made to entertain mainly the kids. The tune is catchy & the lead singers have done a good job especially Shaan who owns the song. The arrangements & instruments have been made very children friendly. Quite funny !
5. Thank God It’s Friday
Singers: Sunidhi Chauhan
The much hyped Sonakshi Sinha item number. This song is claimed to be a tribute to the 80’s disco songs & the mood is rightly captured here. The vocals by Sunidhi Chauhan is spot-on as usual & this song stands out from the other very very ordinary songs in the album. The distinct reason which I came across was that this song has been composed by Sachin-Jigar. They save the album indeed !
Picks of the album: Thank God It’s Friday, Bum Pe Laat, Naino Mein Sapna
Album Verdict: Sajid-Wajid need to reinvent themselves !
