Movie : Desi Boyz
Music Director / Composer : Pritam Chakraborty
Lyrics : Irshad Kamil,Kumaar & Amitabh Bhattacharya
Pritam must be currently riding on cloud 9 after successively giving out complete and chart topping musical albums for 'Mausam’ (of course the remixes don't count), 'Bodyguard’(ignore the title song) and 'Ready'. So, obviously talking about expectations after success from the past 'on the lines of which Shankar-Eshaan-Loy and Salim – Sulaiman have been slightly disappointing' , this man has hope for bolly music lovers to give them a good album.
Having Amitabh and Irshad as lyricists is a trump card for the album! The album has just 5 original tracks ,1 repeat track with a different note and 4 remixes (FOUR?! I'm regretting it already) and has got a motley of the best singers you can ask for. But has Pritam exceeded expectations or did he play safe ?

1. Make Some Noise For The Desi Boyz
A very vibrant and revved up start to the album with heavy electric and techno beats (looks like there is a Tiesto in every music director) that may get lightly screechy and annoying at some places. When you are listening to this track and if you cannot make out what they are singing I wouldn't blame you as the song is a mix of Hindi, Punjabi, English and Spanish (I dunno which language comes when but I could make out these 4). But nevertheless K.K as always at his best a good track can be rated as a must listen.
2. Subha Hone Na De
Hapless rap attempt in the start, then it goes into those euro-thrash club music but Mika singh out of nowhere comes as a saviour to guide us with his vocals strongly complemented by Shefali! Few may like it. Let’s hope its original.
3. Jhak Maar Ke
I liked this track better than the title track. Fell in love with it on hearing it the first time itself. Neeraj Shridhar is impressive! The music isn't very charged up and electronic like the previous songs but completely desi and impressive. Already on my playlist. But even this one slightly reminds me of another song (Zor ka Jhatka).
4. Allah Maaf Kare
This track is clearly under the influence of 'Razia' but once again the singers add a new dimension to the song! Really impressive singing from Sonu Nigam with a lotta variations and Shilpa Rao never lets us down, she is as charming as ever with her voice and kudos to the lyricist too.
5. Let It Be
Changing my opinion, this is the best track in the entire album and then comes 'Jhak Maar ke' second best (given that my choices were limited). The song is all about the protagonist repenting for his mistakes and insouciance and wishing that his better half would stick by his and Shaan just sings it with the perfect voice (touchy) but once again this track sidelines on the tune of Kuch Kam.
6. Tu Mera Hero ( Subha Hone Na De)
Just another remix .
7. Allah Maaf Kare (Remix)
Actually this one sounds better than the other remixes! Put in your dance or party playlist and go, enjoy!
8. Jhak Mar Ke (Remix)
If you liked track number 3, please stick to it dont come till here!
9. Subha Hone Na De(Remix)
It is quite dull for a remix!
10. Make Some Noise For The Desi Boyz (Remix)
How can there be a music album without a remix of the title track! Very heavy beats good mixing (I never thought I'd say that) another potential dance-floor tracks!
Verdict : If you don’t mind buying the album for just the select half of the songs in it, very well go ahead worth a try!
