The movie Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein, starring Anupam Kher and Sachin Khedekar is a Sai Prasad Media production which released on 12th April 2012. Falling in the genre of drama, it traces a man’s journey from his workaholic days to a stage where he is contented and satisfied with his life. A movie which can be watched by people of all age groups . The Music director and the lyricist of this movie are debutantes. The movie has 7 songs, including a remix and acoustic version of one of the tracks.

Did the music of this movie go down well with the audience?

Let us have a look at it :

1.      Dil Darpan

Singers : Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan

This song is just four minutes long, but it gets so boring that within a minute or so it will make one think “When is this song going to end”!! The music is very monotonous; hence it gets boring to listen to. The only reason why you would want to listen to this track is because Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan are the singers.

2.      Rum mein Gum

Singer : Sunidhi Chauhan

Sunidhi’s beautiful yet a powerful voice saves this song from being a big disappointment compared to the other songs in this album. Music isn’t bad, but not that great either to make this song a hit and popular among the audience.

3.      Atak Gaya

Singer : Avadhoot Gupta

Begins with a jazzy tune which is sure to catch your attention but as the song continuous you can’t help but feel disappointed. Starts off well but later it just gets mediocre. All you will hear in this song is “Atakgayare, Atakgayasab”. This refrain is used so many times in the entire course of this song that it gets annoying! Another bad thing – This refrain refuses to get out of your head once you’ve heard this song.

4.      Kaam Kar

Singer : Rishikesh Kamrekar

This one is definitely a sub-par track without any doubt! Like the previous song, this one too starts well but then you soon realize it is such a bad attempt when it comes to jazz music. It lacks the spunk which is required in jazz music.

Bad music, bad lyrics! There is absolutely nothing appealing about this song. What a relief it is when this track ends.

5.      Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein

Singer : Shaan

The title track of this movie is the best song in the album. The tune accompanied with Shaan’s voice, this track isn’t bad to listen to. You won’t be disappointed listening to this song, unlike the others in the album. Also, if you are a fan of Shaan, you will for sure like this one!

6.  Rum mein Gum (Remix)

Singer : Sunidhi Chauhan

DJ Suketu does an okay job with this track. Remix isn’t that great for this track to be played in pubs and to be danced on.

7.  Dil Darpan (Acoustic Version)

Singers : Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan

The guitar version of this song doesn’t work either. You would prefer the original one compared to this. It’s not a song which you would want to listen to again and again.

Verdict : In Bollywood, music is an integral part of any movie. If the music is popular and well liked by the audience then they are usually more motivated to watch the movie. Sometimes music saves the movie from becoming a flop!

Music of Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein, isn’t something most people would like. One thing is for sure, none of these songs work.

Songs of this album are one time listen and fail to tickle the fancy of the audience .

To sum it up, it’s a music album which you would not want to listen to it again.
