Soulful numbers like “Bin Tere” from I hate luv storys did vanquish listener’s hearts while blissful numbers like “Pee loon “ caressed the hearts of music lovers . One could see Lucky Ali at his best with “Hairat” from Anjaana Anjaani while Zubeen Garg left us spellbound with “Ab Mujhko Jeena “ from Aashayein . Dance/party songs have also been inimitable may it be Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s “Uff Teri Ada” or Badmaash Company’s “Chaska Chaska” . Rahat has been at his best with numbers like “Dil to bachcha hai” from Ishqiya , “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain” from Dabangg and the blissful sufi number “ Sajda” from My Name is Khan .

1. Anjaana Anjaani

2010 had been an amazing year for Vishal & Shekhar . Anjaana Anjaani brings you some of the finest tracks of 2010 . Lucky Ali is back with his “Hairat” which did top the charts for quite a while . Vishal -Shilpa Rao’s “ I feel good “ and Shekhar-Caralisa’s “Tumse Hi Tumse” have been a favourite amongst the music lovers while Mohit Chauhan’s outstanding number “ Tujhe Bhula Diya” has been a sensation . Other tracks including “ Anjaana Anjaani” have been impressive as well .
2. I hate luv storys
Music director : Vishal-Shekhar
Shafqat Amanat Ali continued his triumph with the mesmerising “Bin Tere” after huge hits like Mitwa and Tere Naina while Shreya Ghoshal sang an ecstatic song- “Bahara” . Vishal Dadlani adds 2 numbers to his credit including “Jab Mila Tu” and the title song- “I hate love storys”. Rockstar Suraj Jagan and Mahalaxmi Iyer sang a contemplative song – “Sadka Kiya”. Probably one of the finest albums of 2010 , the entire album was a best seller.

The critically acclaimed Aashayein did bring us some of the best tracks . Apart from soulful music , Aashayein has astounding lyrics. Zubeen Garg was at his best at “Ab Mujko Jeena” . Neeraj Shridhar was back with his western style in “Mera Jeena Hai Kya” . Shiraz Uppal also sang a soulful number- “ Rabba”. The lyrics of “Shukriya Zindagi” has been noteworthy .
4. My Name is Khan
Music Directors: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy teamed up with Karan Johar again after Kal Ho Naa Ho and KANK. The soundtrack is a representative of the “indie fusion genre” . Shankar,Adnan Sami and Shreya Ghoshal bring us “Noor-E-Khuda” which blends western blues and techno sounds with classical styles such as sufi and Hindustani. Shafqat Amanat Ali is definitely the preferred choice of SEL after Mitwa and he sung the soulful “tere naina” . Sung by Rahat,Shankar and Richa Sharma , “Sajda” is a sufi number with the sounds of tablas and dholaks moulded together beautifully.
MNIK is not the usual “Its the time to disco”-style SEL album but the sufi-inclined album definitely fared well at the charts .
5. Band Baaja Baarat
Music Directors: Salim-Sulaiman
The opening song “ Ainvayi Ainvayi” is an energy number and you see the wonderful music composition of Salim-Sulaiman here . “Tarkeebein” is a youthful song sung by Benny Dayal and Salim Merchant. “Dum Dum” by Benny Dayal and SRGMP & JJWS fame Himani Kapoor fared well too while lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya & Salim Merchant’s “Mitra” was soulful and fervent. Salim-Sulaiman composed wonderful music throughout the album.
Music Directors : Sajid-Wajid & Jatin-Lalit
“Takte rehte tujhko sanjh savere …” Who wouldn’t forget this number from Rahat . “Tere Mast Do Nain”reached #1on the Official Asian Download Chart in the UK based on legal downloads in that country. Sonu Nigam-Shreya Ghoshal were back with a blissful “Chori Kiya Re Jiya” . Sukhwinder Singh and Wajid sung the title track “ Hud Hud Dabangg” which also fared well in the charts.
Other Tracks :
Other albums including A.R.Rahman’s “Raavan” and “Jhoota Hi Sahi” fared well in the charts too . Chinmayi and Javed Ali’s “Maiyya Yashodha” from Jhoota Hi Sahi was an ardent track . Mohit Chauhan’s “Pee Loon “ from Once Upon A Time in Mumbai was charismatic.
As they say the best is always at the end , 2010 ended with the album of Tees Maar Khan . Sunidhi’s appealing “Sheila Ki Jawani” was an instant hit.
