WE ARE FAMILY is an official remake of the 1998 Susan Sarandon-Julia Roberts-Ed Harris starrer STEPMOM; it isn’t a scene-by-scene replica and has been Indianised.

1. Aakhon Mein Needdein:

Singers: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shreya Ghoshal and Shankar Mahadevan

A good start of album with this sweet and melodious romantic track. Rahat who is already known for his crisp and nimble vocal matches with the sweet sugary vocal of Shreya Ghoshal and with the touch of Shankar to make this track a perfect romantic track. The sweet harmonious tune perfectly blends with good lyrics.

2. Dil Khole Ke Lets Rock:

Singers: Anushka Manchanda, Akriti Kakkar and Suraj Jaggan.

This track is different and peppy from other tracks. It is lively and gets stuck to your tongue. It seems like it is Indian version of Elvis’s – Jailhouse Rock, which is good attempt. All the singers are well chosen and have done excellent playback. Overall energetic, rocky and makes you dance on its tune.

3. Reham Ho Karam:

Singers: Vishal Dadlani and Shankar Mahadevan

The song has good and soft start with melodious tune of piano. Suddenly this soft track takes a turn becomes a rock song with piano and electric guitar in the background. This song wouldn’t have been possible without Shankar Mahadevan and Vishal Dadlani. Special mention to Irshad Kamil for its fabulous lyrics.

4. Hamesha Forever:

Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal

The next track in the album is much needed soft, romantic and peaceful song. This track couldn’t have been better than this with beautiful and melodious vocals of Sonu and Shreya. It is situational track full of emotions and family togetherness. Also chorus singing Hamesha Forever made the song more pleasant and harmonious. A beautiful track with soft and touching background.

5. Sun Le Dua:

Singers: Bela Shinde

This is almost theme song of the album. It is slow version theme song. Fantastic and pleasant composition with the use of piano, violin and flute. This song is epitome of emotional, sanctity, and melodious song. The trios haven’t given anything better than this theme to the album. And hatsoff to Bela Shinde, she takes the track to a different and higher level.

6. We are Family Theme:

Instrumental

This is another best piece by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The theme maintains the sanctity and emotional atmosphere created by the previous track. It is beautiful theme and a perfect ending to the album. Great Job!

VERDICT:

Overall the album is superb with its most emotional tracks to happy romantic songs to lively and peppy rock songs. The trio has aptly chosen all the singers who have exceptionally done well. All the tracks of the album are situational tracks so the album appropriately defines the story of the film. Though nothing new from the Trio but still impressive. Great Job by the music director!
