Enga Ooru Vandi
Singers: Akhilesh, Allan, Anjana, Gowtham, Haripriya, Neyveli Sriram, Yazhini
Lyrics: Justin Prabhakran
Naturally a song ,that can be identified by the first few lines ,describes how Padmini car is dear to the entire village. It has bright folk music and lots of energy brought out in the form of a children’s mischevious voices in-addition to a gumpy man’s voice. There are also lots of overdubs, which add variety to the track.
Singers: Balram, S.P.B.Charan, Sandhya,Anu Anand
This song takes the listeners for a round to the exact vintage period used like parodies and this one has in it ,the earthy connection. Vaali is the right person to write songs on unimaginable moments in relationships and this one treads on two couples, belonging to different generations. Balram and Sandhya appear in the first half of the tune and SP Charan , Anu Anand in the second half ending it on a high note, justifying the decision of the composer.
Singers: Karthik, Prashanthini
Lyrics: Justin Prabhakaran
Setting this track apart from the rest of the melodies in the album are the voices of Karthik and Prashanthini proving great and the perfect arrangement for a feel good song ,that makes you automatically hear this song. There is not much of exertion from the supporting music and has beautiful overlapping harmonies, cool whistle sounds. Lots of Harris Jeyaraj’s influence in this!
Singers: Justin Prabhakaran, Pandiyamma, Thayamma, Vairam
A song with a feeling of love and sorrow-ness attaches to its outfit ,grows onto you quickly with its lyrics and the vocals done by Justin seem to have a character appeal, but lacks in the musicality. There is also slightly heart piercing opaari, therukuthu music in unexpected areas. It comes to near perfection , but looses its thread in the way.
Singers: Anu Anand, S.P.B.Charan
The song is an extension of SP Charan and Anu Anand’s segment from the earlier track. Comparisons to Ilayaraja are inevitable when the song sounds like this , but Justin leaves his own touches. The listener is sure to hear regardless of anything.
Picks of the Album – Onakaaga Poranthene , Kadhal Vandhacho , Enakaaga Poranthaayo , Enga ooru vandi
Bottomline – Justin Prabhakaran clings onto the lady charm and brings out his debut in a big way. He has tried out every nostalgic bit of yesteryear music and recreated them with brilliance. A very safe ride with euphoria all around ,when you listen to Padmini’s music set.
