1. Bailelakka mankatha :

Singers: Karthik, Vijay Yesudas, Anusha Dhayanidhi

The song kicks off with vijay’s processed voice, then joins in Karthik. Anusha dhayanidhi has entered the music industry with this song and she has done a commendable job. Yuvan sticks to what he is good at, synthesizer effects, and it goes pretty good with this track. The song’s visuals might add the ‘Mass’ factor.

2. Machi open the bottle:
Singers: Haricharan, Mano, Naveen, Premji, Tippu
This track seems to be like the typical ‘thala’ intro song and is definitely going to be the favourite for the mass audience. Yuvan scores with a tremendous percussion arrangement in this track that will make anyone to dance to this number whenever you listen to it.

3. Mankaatha theme music:
This track is definitely the pick of this album. Yuvan gives his best whenever it comes to theme music right from ‘Manmadhan’ , ‘Billa’ and so on. ‘Thala’ is all set to rock on and this BGM will definitely live up to the expectations when ‘Thala’ enters the movie.

4. Nee naan
Singers: SPB Charan, Bhavatharini
A melodious number from Yuvan. SPB Charan and Bhavatharini come together for the first time and they have done a pretty good job. The track starts with a well arranged strings section. Guitar interludes are really good.

5. Vaada binlaada:
Singers: Krish, Suchithra.
Yuvan strikes again with his synth effects. Suchithra’s and krish’s voice seems to be auto- tuned, nevertheless they have given a good song for us. The veena interlude is quite catchy. The percussion arrangement transcends in the stanza and is pretty distinct.

6. Vilayaadu mankaatha:

Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ranjith, Sucharitha, Anita, Premgi Amaren

Definitely the pick of this album. Yuvan has given his best for this don kind of song. The song will rock even more with the visuals with ‘Thala’ dancing for this number. The tune ‘pa pennn pa penn’ is already the ringtone for all of Yuvan and Ajith’s fans. Sucharitha has done a commendable job with her seductive voice. This song appeals to all class of audience. Very well arranged and composed by Yuvan.

7. Vilayaadu mankaatha extended:

Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ranjith, Sucharitha, Anita, Premgi Amaren

Just the remix of the previous song and is quite fast-paced. More of club music and again the synth interludes are well arranged by Yuvan. Those who are not attracted to the slow paced previous song will definitely like this track.

8. Nanbane:
Singers: Yuvan, Madhushree.

The second melody from the album which is really soothing. Yuvan and Madhushree come together for the first time. A pretty slow-paced song. A song that gives the same feel as that of ‘Kaatrukulle’ from ‘Sarvam’. Strings interlude are soothing and this song probably might be screened for Trisha and Ajith. All you Trisha fans out there, watch out!

Overall verdict:

All the tracks are good in their own way and Yuvan has tried something different from his previous albums. Though he is not at his best, Mankaatha is definitely a good album of this year.
