After her previous disastrous attempt Bionic, Christina Aguilera is back with Lotus. The playlist lasts about 62 minutes and 51 seconds. The reviews have been mixed but quite favourable. The playlist includes –

1. Lotus Intro
‘I look at my reflection and embrace the woman that I have become. The unbreakable lotus in me, I now set free’ is what Christina declares in this song. The song has an electronic feel which makes it a pleasant listen and the lyrics are quite inspirational.
2. Army of me
Also referred to as ‘Fighter 2.0’ by Christina, it displays her powerful voice but somewhat lacks the punch it is aiming for.
3. Red Hot Kinda Love
This is a nice party track. I particularly like the yodelled chorus though it becomes a bit boring after a while.
4. Make the world move
Cristina keeps up the party mood with this track in which her ‘Voice’ co-stars Cee Lo Green chips in here and there.
5. Your body
Cristina Aguilera really gets her voice pumping with this upbeat fun track which will make you want to get up and groove along. One of my favourites in the album.
6. Let There be Love
This song reminds me of certain tracks of Kylie Minogue and is a typical high-energy pop track.
7. Sing for Me
This ballad features an impressive performance by Christina and the background music is quite mellow which helps in bringing out her voice even more.
8. Blank Page
This is another ballad which almost gave me goose bumps may be because her voice sounds so amazing and is a soulful track.
9. Cease Fire
This song about relationship issues, has some great beats but sort of overshadows her voice.
10. Around the World
Even though this track features good beats it somewhat falls flat and does not exactly hold your attention for long.
This song has a punk rock feel and Christina’s voice and the music mix in an interesting way.
12. Best of Me
This song features beautiful lyrics such as ‘I will rise undefeated will not let you bring me down’ and makes you want to cheer her on.
13. Just a Fool with Blake Shelton
This song has Christina collaboration with another of her ‘Voice’ co-star Blake Shelton but does not create any magic.
14. Light up the sky (Deluxe Only)
This is deluxe track which for some reason reminds me of Katy Perry’s ‘Fireworks’ and makes for a nice listen.
15. Empty Words (Deluxe Only)
A one-time listen this song gets points for good lyrics.
16. Shut Up (Deluxe Only)
Opens with a retro-punk-rock feel and packs a powerful performance.
17. Your Body Martin Garrix Remix
This one is strictly for the clubs and one of those remixes that does not sound better than the original
Picks of the album: Your Body, Blank Page, Lotus Intro
Verdict: Cristina Aguilera‘s voice never ceases to sound amazing and it is the same in this album as well. Though some of the songs are quite average the others make up for it. The album dips into various genres and is a major improvement from her previous album Bionic. Lotus is a good album with feel-good tracks.
