1. Dhak Dhuk

Singers : Amit Trivedi

A highly addictive number. Amit Trivedi helms the singer hat too. His husky voice adds more effect to the song & the lyrics written Swanand Kirkire deserve a special praise. With less instrumentations & more soul to the track, this one becomes an automatic choice to please the listeners.

2. English Vinglish (Female)

Singers : Shilpa Rao

The title track’s female version is sung by Shilpa Rao. The vocals are full of energy & the backgrounds make this song a peppy number. The lyrics play a vital role in keeping up the feel of the song. This song has all in it to be made as a perfect montage. Better than the male version !

3. English Vinglish (Male)

Singers : Amit Trivedi

The same title track gets a male version here sung by the composer himself. Although there aren’t many changes from the female version, one gets the feeling that since the movie is female oriented, female version would suit the movie better.

4. Manhattan

Singers : Clinton Cerejo, Bianca Gomes

Here comes the most rocking song of the album. This song starts off with Sridevi delivering lines about the busy city. What starts after that is a roller coaster ride in the form of a rocking song with funny lyrics & awesome rendition by Clinton Cerejo & Bianca Gomes chipping in with a rap inbetween. This song is completely fast-paced, westernized and the interludes deserve a mention too.

5. Gustakh Dil

Singers : Shilpa Rao

The most soothing track of the album ! Shilpa Rao is completely the soul of this number. This song has shades of “Aahatein” number from “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” but this one is even better. An emotional number & the guitar strummings only make the song more touching. This one is a complete winner !

6. Navraj Majhi

Singers : Sunidhi Chauhan, Swanand Kirkire, Neelambari Kirkire, Natalie Di Luccio

This is a fun track to complete the album. This number looks like a Marathi wedding folk number with Sunidhi Chauhan leading the vocals team & all of them are brilliant. The ‘dhol’ is used nicely throughout the song. People can look forward to see this song on-screen with Sridevi dancing.

Album ★★★★★★★½☆☆

Despite no commercial songs, this album works superbly thanks to Amit Trivedi’s soulful music. Almost all the songs are good with a few having that extra emotional touch. We cannot single out a bad song in this album. There aren’t “Chokra Jawaani” type songs in this album but the “Aahatein” type is plenty. Without any remixes and run-of-the mill masala songs, this album would make the listeners yearn for more.

Picks of the album : Manhattan, Dhak Dhuk, Gustakh Dil

Album Verdict : an album with class !
